Scholarship Overview

The Alice & Charles Taylor Scholar-Athlete LEAD Scholarship was started by siblings Greg, Gary, and Angela Taylor during the 2015 MHHS Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner. Gary & Angela were being honored as inductees into the 1st MHHS Athletic Hall of Fame class and announced the scholarship during their acceptance speech as a way to honor their parents, Charles & Alice, who were in attendance at the event.

The three siblings graduated from Mountain Home High School in the 80's (Greg ’83, Gary ’87, and Angela ’89) and point to the inspiration, guidance, support, and positive example set by their parents as the keys to their successful journey in the classroom, in the community, and in sports. Charles served 27 years in the United States Air Force, including being stationed for a lengthy amount of time at Mountain Home Air Force Base in the 366th Tactical Unit as Senior Master Sergeant. Alice was a paraprofessional in School District #193 for approximately 30 years. Both have also continued to exhibit a commitment to community service via various charitable endeavors throughout their time as residents of Mountain Home.

“We are so grateful for the support, guidance, and example that our parents set for the three of us. Their emphasis on the importance of hard work (both in the classroom and the playing surface) was the catalyst for the successful journey we’ve both been fortunate to experience over the years,” said Gary and Angela during the 2015 Hall of Fame ceremony.

Greg, who played football & ran track at MHHS, went on to attend Boise State University while walking on to the football team. Gary (football, basketball, track at MHHS) went on to attend Stanford University where he was a scholarship athlete on the football team. Angela (volleyball, basketball, track at MHHS) attended Stanford University where she walked on to the women’s basketball team and later earned a basketball scholarship. She also earned her MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. They all have gone on to successful careers.
